I have come to the honest realization that the mom phase will last a lot longer than the dad phase. At least that’s how I am feeling when it comes to being a mom and wanting to branch off back into my hobbies.

For instance, the other day my husband and I were playing Destiny 2 and my toddler kept wanting me to stop what I was doing and play games with her. Mind you, she hasn’t seen her dad for most of the day. But, she is insistent on playing with me. So, I have to stop in the middle of our game to play with her. This is after I’ve asked her to bug her dad!

Right now I am basking in the fact that my daughter and niece are taking afternoon naps. This frees up my time to play games, write blogs, or study. Let me tell you, that even as an adult I do not manage my time well. One of the main reasons is because my daughter is a huge block of that time because she is in the mom phase.

But, at the same time, this can be a great thing. They say you shouldn’t introduce your kids to electronics and video games at such a young age. Well, I am not the norm in the slightest. My phone has kids’ mode on it, my daughter uses this app to play her games or watch her kids’ videos. She’s barely turning three and knows colors and shapes. Technology taught her that. I want to say I did it too, but I’m going to be honest. It wasn’t me.

I may have grown up in an era where technology was new. But, like many others my age I have adapted to using it daily. That includes using it for learning games for the kids. I’d have to say my number one learning game would be Minecraft.

This game gives kids the room to be creative and to learn. For instance, I love Redstone because of how it mimics the inner workings of computer engineering. I’m so happy that they have this in the game because it really can help kids understand computers better.

Don’t even get me started on the MODS people have created for the game. I’ve been watching Minecraft gamers play modded Minecraft. I cannot believe how far this game has come. I started playing it when it was in BETA. I am astonished every time I watch a stream or a video that plays with different mods.

In fact, it got to the point where I started a modded server with my oldest daughter so that we could play some of these mods together. I haven’t had a lot of time to play them because of my youngest daughter. Hopefully this summer my oldest kids will have time to play Minecraft with me. They can trade of entertaining the little one whilst I play video games.

This was a lot to digest for one blog. So, I’ll leave you guys alone for today! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog. Maybe the next one I’ll get into more about the games and less about the kids! It’s just been one of those days!
